How to be saved?
Myth: I have to start believing in God and doing better: go to church, stop lying, stop having bad thoughts, stop lusting, stop my filthy language, etc, etc, etc,….
Myth: If I start walking with God then he will bring me out of the troubles of my life.
Myth: If “so-and-so” can get into heaven, then I have nothing to worry about.
Myth: If I feel at peace with my life, then I have nothing to worry about.
Myth: I believe in God and do right so I am saved right?
Myth: If I say a “sinner’s prayer” I am saved right?
Fact: God is the author of salvation and no man comes to Him unless the Spirit draws Him (St. John 6)
Fact: You are dead in trespasses and sin and don’t even recognize your need of saving without the Spirit’s power. (Ephesians 2)
Fact: You must be born again (made alive spiritually) by the Holy Spirit to enter into the Kingdom of God. (St. John 3)
Fact: The devils believe in God and lost people do good yet they are not saved. (James 2)
Fact: Repentance from sin and faith toward Christ for the payment and remedy of sin is the only way to be saved and these are gifts of God. (Ephesians 2)
Fact: You are saved through Christ alone plus and minus nothing.
What I am saying is this: God’s wrath is upon you for your sin: past present and future. There must be a recognition and sorrow of your sin toward others and toward God. God, in saving you, offers Christ as the answer to your sin and His wrath toward you. Christ is offered to you through the preaching of the scriptures. This is called the Gospel. We, by the power of the Holy Spirit, then repent and believe upon Christ totally for our salvation. This is called faith. We are saved by faith. Marks of true salvation is that we keep the faith throughout our lives, till the very end. The result of our faith is that our lives change in that we desire to please God as His adopted children.
